Test detection

Test detection lives in the property inspector. It captures the foreground window after a short countdown.

  1. Open the Auto Profile Switcher property inspector.
  2. Click Test detection.
  3. You have 3 seconds to focus the target application.
  4. Results stay visible: process name, window title, and matched profile (if any).
  • Auto-switching is disabled while the property inspector is open — you will not lose the panel mid-configuration.
  • Use + Add to app list to turn the result into a new rule immediately.
Symptom Likely cause
Empty process name Window has no owning process (rare)
ApplicationFrameHost UWP shell — focus the inner app content
Wrong process Some apps spawn helper processes — try focusing the main window

Run detection again after focusing the exact window you care about.
